About this role
Gardens of Babylon Landscapes is seeking an experienced Senior Production Manager to lead the day-to-day performance of our Landscape Maintenance branch. This position oversees maintenance team leaders and field crews, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to Gardens of Babylon’s quality standards.
The Senior Production Manager will also serve as the company’s Safety Manager, providing recurring safety training, conducting inspections, supporting incident investigations, and helping maintain compliance with OSHA and other applicable safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise residential and commercial maintenance teams.
• Coach, train, and support team leaders and crew members.
• Schedule crews and coordinate efficient weekly routing.
• Monitor field efficiency, labor costs, job earnings, and estimated hours.
• Identify budget concerns and report variances to the Maintenance Branch Manager.
• Conduct monthly property audits and quality assessments.
• Work with Account Managers to provide excellent customer service and maintain strong client retention.
• Review maintenance and clean-up estimates and flag potential concerns.
• Oversee maintenance subcontractors and verify that required documentation remains current.
• Manage job paperwork, timesheets, tickets, receipts, and open-issue reports.
• Attend new-property kickoff meetings as needed.
• Identify enhancement opportunities and contract change orders.
• Support maintenance employees pursuing pesticide applicator certifications and Category 3 licensing.
• Co-lead biweekly Maintenance Operations and Safety meetings.
• Support Lean, GreenDot, and other company training initiatives.
Safety Leadership
• Serve as the Safety Manager in partnership with Operations and Human Resources.
• Develop, schedule, and deliver recurring workplace safety training.
• Maintain accurate training attendance records and submit required documentation to HR.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and risk assessments.
• Identify workplace hazards and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.
• Support timely incident reporting and participate in incident investigations.
• Promote compliance with company policies and applicable local, state, federal, and OSHA requirements.
• Work toward the company’s goal of zero lost-time accidents.
Performance Expectations
The Senior Production Manager will help the Maintenance branch:
• Achieve or exceed 103% field efficiency.
• Ensure crews leave the lot within the allotted time.
• Complete at least 90% of scheduled monthly property audits.
• Complete daily truck inspections 100% of the time.
• Keep labor costs at least 10% below estimated labor costs in BOSS.
• Maintain a 90% customer-retention rate and consistent five-star reviews.
• Maintain accurate daily timesheets and work toward zero open tickets.
• Strengthen employee engagement and contribute to year-over-year eNPS growth.
• Develop working Spanish proficiency to improve daily communication with crew members.
Qualifications
• At least five years of experience in residential or commercial landscape maintenance or enhancement operations.
• Previous experience leading maintenance teams and field crews.
• Current OSHA certification is required.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety best practices.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the company’s vehicle-insurability requirements.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, labor tracking, and cost management; full profit-and-loss ownership is not required.
• Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with administrative, sales, design, and field teams.
• Proficiency with project-management software and Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to continue developing landscaping and maintenance knowledge.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and safely perform the physical duties of the position.
• Spanish proficiency is helpful; candidates must be willing to develop working Spanish proficiency.
