About this role

Peace River, Alberta | 8 Days On / 6 Days Off

If you like being close to the equipment, solving problems as they happen, and having real responsibility for keeping a power facility running safely and reliably, this could be a great fit.

Enfinite is looking for a Power Technician to join our team at our 20 MW natural gas-fired generation facility in Peace River.

This is a hands-on operations role for someone who is comfortable working independently, understands industrial equipment, and knows that when an alarm goes off, figuring out what is happening matters.

You’ll work an 8 days on / 6 days off rotation, with regular on-site hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During your rotation, you’ll also be responsible for responding to alarms and operational issues outside regular site hours when required.

Enfinite provides a company truck and fuel card for travel to and from the site and for work-related travel.

What You'll Do

You’ll help keep the facility operating safely, efficiently and reliably by:

• Monitoring plant operations from both the control room and the field

• Operating generators, gas systems, compressors, pumps, switchgear and other plant equipment

• Completing plant startups, shutdowns, synchronization and operating adjustments

• Performing regular field rounds and identifying equipment issues before they become bigger problems

• Responding to alarms, equipment malfunctions and process upsets

• Troubleshooting basic mechanical, electrical and instrumentation issues

• Recording plant readings, maintaining operating logs and completing shift handovers

• Preparing daily operational and production reports

• Using asset management software to document maintenance activities

• Coordinating with contractors, trades and management during maintenance, inspections and outages

• Completing equipment isolations, lockout/tagout and permit-to-work procedures

• Supporting longer-term maintenance planning and equipment reliability

• Operating site equipment including skid steers and mobile elevating work platforms

• Keeping the site clean, safe and ready to operate

What We're Looking For

You don’t need to have followed one exact career path to be successful here.

You may come from power engineering, instrumentation, mechanical, electrical, oil and gas, industrial operations or another related technical background.

Ideally, you bring:

• A high school diploma plus relevant technical education, certification or experience

• Power engineering certification, including Class 4 where required for the facility

• Experience working with gas-fired generation, compressors, process equipment or other industrial plant systems

• Familiarity with DCS or SCADA systems

• Experience completing operating logs, following procedures and responding to equipment alarms

• Practical mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills

• A strong understanding of safe work procedures

• The ability to work independently and make sound decisions when something does not look or sound right

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who takes ownership.

Someone who notices things. Asks questions. Communicates clearly during a shift handover. Takes safety seriously. Helps solve the problem instead of walking past it.

The Schedule

• 8 days on / 6 days off

• Wednesday to Wednesday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on site

• While on rotation, you will also remain available to respond to alarms, plant upsets and emergent operational issues outside regular site hours.

• A company truck and fuel card are provided for travel to and from the Peace River site during your rotation.
