Job Summary:

Covenant Christian High School seeks an enthusiastic, Christ-centered Paraprofessional to join our academic team. This role serves as a permanent substitute across classrooms and includes full-time coverage of Spanish courses instruction during a maternity leave within the department (January-May).

Duties / Responsibilities

General Paraprofessional & Permanent Substitute Duties

• Deliver instructional support and supervision in various subjects and grades as needed.

• Manage classroom logistics: prepare materials, maintain attendance records, enforce school policies, and oversee transitions.

• Provide individualized assistance to students—offering academic support, small-group instruction, and reteaching.

• Uphold discipline standards and school values during both instructional and non-instructional periods (study halls, lunch, chapel).

• Collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons; assist with grading and student feedback.

• Engage in professional development and regularly participate in faculty meetings.

Spanish Substitute Responsibilities

• Teach Spanish courses daily while the regular teacher is on maternity leave.

• Plan and deliver lessons, lectures, and assessments according to the department’s curriculum.

• Conduct quizzes/tests, provide meaningful feedback, and update students and parents on progress.

• Coordinate with faculty and department chairs to maintain consistency with instructional objectives

Qualifications

• Educational Requirements:

• Associate’s degree or higher; Bachelor's preferred—ideally in Spanish, Education, or a related field .

Experience & Skills:

• Prior experience in academic support roles (e.g., paraprofessional, TA, substitute teacher).

• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.

• Proficiency with lab setups, enforcing safety protocols, and basic Spanish instruction.

• Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and educators.

• Commitment to a Christ-centered educational environment.

• Training or experience in teaching secondary school-aged children is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

• Must be able to traverse school facilities and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
