POSITION SUMMARY: The position will oversee preconstruction and estimating for all Americaribe projects (building) in South Florida and, when applicable, other areas of the U.S. and Caribbean, for mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection packages (including swimming pools and kitchen equipment when applicable). The candidate will work on tasks that are related to project cost estimation, prepare complete and comprehensive Bid Packages. The work location is Americaribe office in Miami. The successful candidate may have the opportunity, starting 3 months after his/her start date, to work one day per week from home. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties and responsibilities below are related to the following trades/divisions: Fire Protection, Plumbing, HVAC and, potentially when applicable, Swimming Pools and Kitchen Equipment. Depending on the company needs and the candidate’s interest, the candidate may be exposed to other trades/divisions but not without proper support from the team. They are also applicable to all the projects being followed by Americaribe, in Florida and the Caribbean. Experience estimating large, complex building projects of one or several of the following: high-rise residential, hospitality, healthcare, education, etc. Demonstrated experience taking a mechanical package from initial drawings through final bid/GMP. Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Prepare detailed estimates for large, complex building projects, including high-rise residential, hospitality, healthcare, education, and other major building projects. Manage the mechanical estimating package from initial drawings and early design stages through final bid/GMP, including quantity takeoffs, pricing, subcontractor/vendor solicitation, bid analysis, scope review, and final estimate preparation. Prepare bid packages, detailed and comprehensive packages’ scope. Identify suitable subcontractors and vendors for all the projects depending on the size, complexity and location of the project. Maintain a good working relationship with subcontractors and vendors. Issue RFIs as needed, follow-up with the stakeholders (designers, owners, subcontractors, internal team…). Ability to understand and analyze subcontractors and vendors proposals Ensure proposals cover the entire related scope of work and be able to identify and estimate cost of scope gaps. With the support of the preconstruction manager, prepare all necessary documents to allow for budget or GMP presentation to owners (SoV, bid tabs, qualifications & assumptions…). Liaise with third parties such as JV partners, partners, designers (with the support of the preconstruction manager). QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor or Master's degree in Engineering or related field. Candidate must have at least 5 years of experience performing the duties described above. Proficient Excel, MS Word, Onscreen takeoff or similar, Bluebeam or similar. The candidate must be fluent in English and be comfortable to work with a team, as a team.
