About the role The Engineer – Manufacturing Technology supports the successful introduction and optimization of products in manufacturing by ensuring safe, efficient, and controlled production processes. The role is responsible for manufacturing readiness, process improvement, technical documentation, and product implementation, while driving sustainability initiatives that enhance resource efficiency, reduce waste, and support quality, safety, delivery, and cost objectives. What you will be doing Engineering-to-Manufacturing Handover: Lead the introduction of new products and design changes into manufacturing, ensuring production is ready through clear processes, documentation, testing, and formal handover activities. Design for Manufacture and Test: Work closely with engineering teams to optimize product designs for efficient manufacturing, testing, sourcing, safety, reliability, and long-term production growth. Pilot Builds and Production Introduction: Plan and support prototype, pilot, and initial production runs, tracking performance, identifying issues, and implementing improvements before full production release. Manufacturing Process Engineering: Develop and improve manufacturing processes for assembling, programming, testing, calibrating, inspecting, packaging, and maintaining electromechanical and technology products. Sustainability Improvement: Identify opportunities to reduce waste, material usage, energy consumption, rework, and environmental impact, and implement improvements that support business, safety, and sustainability goals. Quality and Process Control: Define quality requirements, inspection points, and traceability processes, and support the investigation and resolution of product and manufacturing issues. BOM, ERP and Engineering Change Control: Maintain accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and manufacturing data, ensuring engineering changes are correctly updated in production systems and documentation. Tooling, Equipment and Automation: Develop and support production tools, fixtures, and test equipment, ensuring they are properly qualified, calibrated, and maintained. Data and Digital Improvement: Analyse manufacturing, quality, and sustainability data to identify trends and develop reporting tools that improve process performance and decision-making. Technical Documentation and Training: Create and maintain manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and training materials, and support the training of production and maintenance teams during product launches. Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Procurement, to achieve production goals and support product lifecycle activities. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all manufacturing engineering activities comply with Orica’s safety, environmental, quality, document control, and change management standards. What you will bring Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Industrial, Sustainability Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline. Professional experience in manufacturing, production, process, industrialisation, New Product Introduction or product transfer within a technical environment. Practical experience with electromechanical assembly, electronics/PCBA, instrumentation, test, calibration or similar low-volume / high-complexity manufacturing. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, tolerances, test results and technical documentation. Experience creating manufacturing processes, SOPs, SWIs, inspection plans, test methods and training packages. Demonstrated experience in structured problem solving, root-cause analysis, risk assessment, non-conformance and corrective-action processes. Experience working across Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality and Supply Chain stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to convert engineering requirements into practical production instructions. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Ability to work locally in Welshpool.
