Your personal sphere of influence: To support teaching and research in the field of business law, the team of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Julia Told is seeking a predoctoral University Assistant with particular interest in corporate law issues, starting in October 2026. The position is advertised for 4 years in total, with the employment relationship initially limited to 1.5 years and automatically extended to a total of 4 years unless the employer issues a declaration of non-extension within 12 months at the latest. Your future tasks: You will actively contribute to research, teaching, and administration, which means: • Participation in research, in particular contributing to publications/scholarly articles • Writing a doctoral dissertation in private business law (in particular commercially oriented civil law, corporate law, company law, banking and capital markets law) • Independent teaching of courses to the extent provided for in the collective agreement • Where suitable: independent publications in academic journals • Exam invigilation and grading • Communication with students • Supervision of seminar papers and theses • Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance • Contribution to institute management, in particular the organization of conferences • Opportunity to attend conferences • Participation in professional development What you bring: • Completed diploma or master’s degree in law/business law • Demonstrably above-average subject-matter knowledge and interest in one of the following areas: commercially oriented civil law, company and corporate law, banking and capital markets law, industrial property (IP) law, digitalization and private law • Strong interest in the unit’s main research areas, such as corporate financing law, group law, the personal liability of (de facto) directors/managers, or new (European) corporate law forms • Excellent written and oral expression in German • Very good English skills (spoken and written); an additional modern foreign language is an advantage • Proficiency in standard IT user applications • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team • Commitment, resilience, and accuracy • Independence and reliability • Basic knowledge of economics is an advantage • Experience in giving presentations and teaching—ideally with basic higher education didactics—is an advantage • Publication experience in private business law is an advantage • Knowledge of university processes and structures is an advantage What we offer: Work-life balance: Our employees enjoy flexible working hours and can partially work remotely.
