Senior Manager, Pre-Construction and Tenders Locations: San Francisco, CA; Denver, CO; or Austin, TX Work arrangement: Hybrid, Tuesday through Thursday in the office; Monday and Friday remote Compensation: $150,000 to $170,000 base salary, plus a 20% annual bonus Travel: Up to 30% Reports to: Vice President, Preconstruction and EPC Tenders Lightsource bp is seeking a Senior Manager to lead owner-side EPC procurement and commercial negotiations for utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage system projects. You will manage the full lifecycle, including contractor engagement and qualification, RFP development, bid evaluation and levelization, award recommendations, and contract negotiation. Working closely with Development, Engineering, Project Management, Construction, Legal, Finance, and Safety, you will help select strong EPC partners and establish commercially sound agreements that support successful project delivery. What you’ll do Lead end-to-end procurement and contracting for utility-scale solar PV and BESS EPC services Develop procurement strategies and comprehensive EPC RFP packages Manage bidder communications, contractor qualification, and competitive tender processes Evaluate and level commercial and technical proposals, identify material differences, and prepare clear award recommendations Lead commercial negotiations for limited notices to proceed, EPC agreements, O&M agreements, consulting agreements, service contracts, and supporting exhibits Partner with Legal, Engineering, Project Management, Construction, and other stakeholders to align contract terms with project scope, schedule, technical requirements, and risk objectives Evaluate contractor capabilities, financial strength, safety performance, execution history, and project capacity Build and maintain productive relationships with leading EPC contractors Monitor contractor availability, pricing trends, labor constraints, supply-chain conditions, and other market developments Advise project teams on EPC schedules, procurement milestones, long-lead requirements, and execution risks Improve procurement processes, evaluation tools, templates, and contracting practices Mentor and support junior team members What you’ll bring Five or more years of experience in procurement, contracts, commercial management, or project delivery Three or more years of experience involving utility-scale renewable energy, power generation, energy storage, or comparable power-infrastructure projects Experience supporting or leading EPC procurement and complex commercial negotiations for large capital projects Experience developing RFPs, evaluating proposals, levelizing bids, and preparing award recommendations Strong understanding of EPC contracting, including pricing, scope, schedule, performance obligations, risk allocation, change management, warranties, and remedies Strong commercial judgment and the ability to evaluate technical, financial, contractual, schedule, and execution risks Ability to influence decisions and build alignment across multidisciplinary teams A bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, construction management, business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Business-fluent English Willingness to travel up to 30% Preferred qualifications Direct experience negotiating EPC agreements for utility-scale solar PV or BESS projects Experience working for a renewable-energy developer, independent power producer, EPC contractor, utility, or power-infrastructure organization Experience negotiating limited notices to proceed, O&M agreements, consulting agreements, or other supporting project contracts Experience with contractor due diligence, supplier prequalification, and market engagement SAP experience Experience mentoring or guiding procurement, contracts, or commercial professionals Compensation and benefits The base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $170,000 annually, plus a 20% annual bonus. Compensation within the range will depend on relevant experience, qualifications, skills, and work location.
