CNC Machinist About the Role We are seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-quality precision ceramic components while ensuring safety, quality, and productivity targets are achieved. The job will be a permanent afternoon/late shift role with final hours to be confirmed. Key Duties and Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC milling and/or turning machines. Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and work instructions. Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machine settings. Perform machine offsets and make program adjustments where required. Conduct first-off inspections and in-process quality checks using measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMM reports. Ensure components are manufactured to specification and within defined tolerances. Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot machining issues. Perform routine machine maintenance and housekeeping activities. Record production and quality data accurately. Adhere to all company health, safety, and environmental procedures. Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste. Work closely with Quality personnel and Production Supervisors to resolve production issues. Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing activities. Essential Requirements 5 years or more experience operating and setting up CNC machines in a manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. Skilled in the use of precision measuring equipment. Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, speeds, and feeds. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Good problem-solving and communication skills. Apprenticeship or formal engineering qualification. Desirable Requirements Experience with Fanuc, Heidenhain, or Mazatrol controls. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
