As the Lead Business Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping department heads, faculty, graduate students, staff, and business offices manage and interpret financial information with consistency, efficiency, and accuracy. Serving as a trusted resource and subject matter expert (SME), you will provide guidance and support that enables departments to achieve their goals while ensuring sound business practices. Responsibilities Include: Account management, billing and cost center management, procurement, travel or related functions. Serve as the liaison between these departments: the Purchasing Center, Central Travel and business area. Exercise delegated signature approval for a variety of business transactions following delegation policies. May develop financial reports for financial planning forecasts or analyze and project data for budget reviews. May functionally supervise regular, temporary, and student employees or back up the business manager as appropriate. What We’re Looking For: Required: Education and Experience: High School Diploma/GED. Four years of experience in an office or related business support role. Skills Needed: Experience in SAP, Cognos, and SuccessFactors. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Demonstrated ability to practice good time management and organizational skills and multi-task. Motivated individual with ability to efficiently multitask, work under pressure, handle frequent interruptions, prioritize workload and meet deadlines. Demonstrates a willingness to learn, independently explores capabilities, identifies opportunities to improve productivity, and takes ownership of assigned responsibilities. Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels. Must possess a learning orientation toward changing technology impacting business processes. Ability to make sound judgments and observe confidentiality at all times is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to explain policies and procedures to staff. Ability to handle interruptions while meeting deadlines with accurate results and providing exceptional customer service. Ability to problem-solve and analyze complex issues. Ability to provide coaching and training to others. What is Helpful: University experience.
