Responsibilities The SEC Reporting & Technical Accountant supports the external reporting, technical accounting, and cash flow processes. This role assists with the monthly cash flow statement and forecast, supports 10-Q and 10-K filings, executes assigned SOX controls, and completes technical accounting research, while serving as a floater to provide backup coverage across the group during absences and peak workload periods. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain broad exposure across the multiple SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting disciplines all within one role. This position will report to the Assistant Controller within Controller’s Division. • Supports the Cash Flow Manager with the preparation of the monthly cash flow statement and corporate cash flow forecast and related deliverables, including data gathering, input compilation, and validation of results. • Collaborates with responsible stewards on balance sheet forecasting and analysis, assessing the downstream impact on the cash flow statement and forecast. • Serves as backup for the preparation of the actual cash flow statement, including compilation of supporting schedules and quarterly tie-outs. • Manages assigned complex accounting processes, which may include performing analysis and drafting technical accounting memos, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and maintaining roll-forward schedules • Assists the Accounting Policies Manager with technical accounting research, including drafting summaries of findings for senior review. • Executes assigned SOX controls, including preparation of documentation, support for walkthroughs, and timely completion of control evidence for the external integrated audit and internal 404(a) SOX compliance. • Supports the SEC team with quarterly and annual filings (10-Q and 10-K), including tie-out and validation procedures, earnings release materials, and supporting documentation for external disclosures. • Acts as a floater across the group, providing backup coverage for team members during absences and flexing to support peak workload periods or shifting priorities. • Identifies and implements productivity improvements for own areas. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance • 3+ years of accounting or finance experience • Foundational understanding of US GAAP and accounting principles • Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams skills Preferred Qualifications • Advanced degree (MBA or MAcc) • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) • Big Four or large corporate accounting experience • Experience with disclosure management tools (Workiva/Wdesk) and ERP systems (SAP) Functional Skills and Capabilities • High attention to detail with strong organizational and project management skills; manages multiple tasks simultaneously and meets deadlines in a fast-paced environment • Excellent written and verbal communication; explains technical accounting concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and all levels of management, and presents alternative viewpoints while fostering consensus • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills; applies sound judgment to evaluate practical solutions and navigates ambiguity in complex, non-standard situations • Collaborative team player who builds trust-based relationships across finance and business partners while working independently with minimal guidance • Highly self-motivated and results oriented; demonstrates strong ownership and accountability, thrives under pressure, and adapts quickly to changing priorities Eastman is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to creating a highly engaged workforce, where everyone can contribute to their fullest potential each day.
