Our state-of-the-art laboratories are strategically placed to help provide a wide range of inspection and laboratory testing services across a broad range of commodities. The Opportunity We are looking for an afternoon shift coordinator (afternoon shift 3pm to 11pm) . To oversee the day-to-day operations of our laboratory team, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Reporting to the Production Coordinator, you will coordinate workflow, allocate resources, support staff development, and ensure turnaround times are achieved while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on leadership role that offers the opportunity to drive team performance and contribute to the ongoing success of our Adelaide Mineral processing operation. Key Responsibilities Coordinate afternoon shift operations to ensure production targets and turnaround times are achieved Schedule workflow, allocate resources and optimise labour utilisation across the team Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and support to team members Liaise with internal stakeholders to manage workloads, priorities and project schedules Monitor team performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the operation. Support staff training, competency development, and maintenance of training records. Oversee equipment maintenance activities and assist with managing breakdowns and repairs Maintain high standards of housekeeping, sample management, and laboratory best practice. QHSE and Quality Responsibilities Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all QHSE policies and procedures Conduct safety inspections, toolbox talks, and workplace audits to support a safe working environment Identiy, report, and assist in the investigation of hazards, incidents and near misses Ensure all work is performed in accordance with laboratory procedures, quality standards and regulatory requirements Monitor quality outcomes, reduce rework, and support calibration and continuous improvement programs. About you Previous experience leading or coordinating teams in a Laboratory, production, processing or operational environment Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels Proven ability to motivate, support, and develop team members to achieve operational goals Sound problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive approach to continuous improvement Strong computer skills and confidence working with operational systems and reporting tools Committed to maintaining high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping Flexible, professional and able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
