Market Range: 08 Hiring Salary: $21.69/Hourly THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Researcher 1 supports a multidisciplinary research program focused on understanding the mechanisms of acute kidney injury (AKI), kidney transplantation, and renal recovery.
• Assists in establishing and optimizing rodent models of kidney transplantation. • Performs and assists with rodent models of AKI, including nephrectomy, renal ischemia-reperfusion injury, and rhabdomyolysis. • Assists with pre-operative preparation, surgical procedures, post-operative monitoring, and animal care. • Performs animal handling, treatment administration, and biological sample collection. • Collects, processes, and preserves blood, urine, kidney, and other tissue samples. • Assists with histological, biochemical, molecular, and functional analyses of kidney injury and recovery. • Maintains accurate laboratory records, experimental protocols, and animal-related documentation. • Assists with data collection, organization, analysis, and presentation. • Maintains laboratory supplies, equipment, and general laboratory organization. • Adheres to institutional guidelines for animal welfare, biosafety, and laboratory safety. • Collaborates with research staff, trainees, and investigators on ongoing projects. • Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree. (Doctoral Degree preferred.)(TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of relevant lab experience; OR Master’s Degree and one (1) year or relevant lab experience. Surgical experience is necessary for this position. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to manage time and work on multiple projects simultaneously. • Ability to think and work independently as well as collaboratively. • Demonstrates effective listening, oral and written communication skills. • Technical writing skills for proposal, report, and manuscript preparation. • Ability to create and maintain extensive records on research subjects. • Knowledge of Basic Research Principles and Federal Code of Regulations for Clinical Research Studies. • Excellent organizational skills. WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work evenings
