Substation Operations Planning is seeking a Senior Planning Analyst to support outage scheduling, compliance, and maintenance activities across the electric transmission and distribution system. The role involves preparing and managing outage requests, optimizing schedules, and consolidating capital, preventive maintenance (PM), and corrective maintenance (CM) work to minimize equipment outages while ensuring system reliability and regulatory compliance. The analyst will develop and maintain integrated work plans, coordinate with Electric Operations, Engineering, System Operations, and SSO. This position requires strong project management, technical, and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret electrical drawings, manage complex assignments, and ensure adherence to compliance requirements and human performance standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and committed to delivering safe, efficient, and customer-focused outcomes.
This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.
Core Responsibilities • Support various aspects of the Substation Operations outage scheduling and capital program management functions • Prepare and submit outage requests, track status of outage requests and work to identify opportunities to consolidate work into the minimum number of equipment outages • Develop and maintain consolidated, high level schedule and work plans, and formulate resource capability plans with working groups • Evaluate and provide projections of project/program financial status, including identifying potential overrun conditions, and development of recovery plans to address these situations • Identify emergent capital work items and develop plans to address these within various time constraints. • Prepare and/or update capital budget white papers and appropriations in support of various SSO capital projects and programs. • Develop strong working relationships with Electric Operations, Central Engineering, System Operations, and SSO. • Maintain the SSO Planning Sharepoint site, and develop databases/applications to assist Substation Operations personnel in meeting outage scheduling and cost management objectives. • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
Required Education/Experience • Bachelor's Degree and 3 or more years' related experience Experience in the engineering, design, construction, operations and/or maintenance of Substations or System Operations or • Associate's Degree and 5 or more years' related experience Experience in the engineering, design, construction, operations and/or maintenance of Substations or System Operations or • High School Diploma/GED and 7 or more years' related experience Experience in the engineering, design, construction, operations and/or maintenance of Substations or System Operations
Preferred Education/Experience • Master's Degree MBA or MPP and a minimum of 2 years work experience Experience in the engineering, design, construction, operations and/or maintenance of Substations or System Operations •
Relevant Work Experience • Experience in the engineering, design, construction, operations and/or maintenance of Substations, required. Required
Licenses and Certifications • Driver's License Required
