Job Description: BLUF Tactical Analyst II provides mid-level operational or technical expertise in support of experimentation, analysis, field events, and technology evaluations. This role blends hands-on execution with insightful analysis, contributing meaningfully to project planning, scenario development, and data-driven assessments. Core Responsibilities Technical Specialist Track

• Perform mid-level engineering, development, or systems integration tasks.

• Develop data analysis tools, integrate hardware/software for event support.

• Execute scenario events with technical expertise beyond operator-level use.

Project Responsibilities For this project assignment, the Tactical Analyst II serves as the Data Collections Deputy/Technical Lead, supporting the Data Collections Manager in planning and executing technical data-collection activities. When designated, the employee may provide continuity of technical direction during the manager’s absence. This project designation does not change the employee’s company job family, level, compensation band, or baseline responsibilities. Key Responsibilities

• Support planning, staffing, and execution of data collection and analysis across assigned experiments and operational events.

• Lead assigned technical personnel and event augmentees during planning and execution; establish priorities and monitor assigned work.

• Serve as the designated Data Collections technical lead when assigned, preserving technical continuity and elevating management decisions as required.

• Configure, document, and troubleshoot authorized networks, servers, collection tools, interfaces, and data pathways in Linux and Windows environments.

• Develop, review, and maintain software, scripts, and automation supporting data capture, movement, processing, validation, and presentation.

• Implement approved procedures for data quality, synchronization, provenance, integrity, traceability, access control, storage, and backup.

• Lead technical troubleshooting and coordinate recovery actions during live events without compromising data quality, cybersecurity requirements, or operational safety.

• Prepare collection plans, technical diagrams, status products, dashboards, after-action inputs, and customer briefings.

• Coordinate technical interfaces with other project functions, external partners, and customer representatives.

• Support onboarding, task-level training, performance observations, SOP maintenance, and lessons-learned capture for assigned personnel.

Compensation 2026 Pay Band: $88,000 – $126,000

Certificates/Security Clearances/Other: Clearance Requirements

• Secret eligible required; Secret preferred.

• Adherence to reporting requirements and security protocols.

Required Experience: Required Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

• 6–12 years of military experience OR entry-level technical experience.

• Strong communication skills and reliability in field environments.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, network engineering, information technology, data engineering, software engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant technical experience.

• Demonstrated working proficiency in network architecture, Linux and Windows servers, data flows, systems troubleshooting, and secure technical operations.

• Progressively responsible experience in network engineering, software development, data engineering, technical data collection, or a closely related discipline.

• Demonstrated experience leading technical teams during live operations, exercises, experiments, testing, or other time-sensitive events.

• Proficiency in Python or a comparable programming language and working knowledge of scripting tools such as Bash or PowerShell.

• Experience implementing data-quality, integrity, traceability, security, and documentation practices.

• Strong briefing and communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Experience: Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms, containers, databases, APIs, network monitoring, dashboards, or data visualization tools.

• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Security+, cloud, data, or software-development credentials.

• Experience coordinating contractors, technical partners, or multi-organization data integrations.
