Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Dermatology department at University
Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, specifically at the Solihull and Good Hope
Hospital sites. We are seeking to appoint an excellent dermatologist to support provision
of medical dermatology and skin cancer services on a fixed term basis for 6 months (10
PAs). Applicants wishing to work part time are welcome to apply.
The ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team is
essential. A strong commitment from the appointee to the Department and involvement with
governance and audit is expected.

Main duties of the job
* Well-developed listening and communication skills and be able to deal effectively
with clinicians from all disciplines, managers and professionals both within and
outside the Trust.
* To be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* To support the work and development of allied professionals in the department, such
as nursing colleagues and resident doctors
* Well-developed presentational skills, good report writing skills and make effective
use of presentation aids.
* To keep up to date with the latest developments in Dermatology in order to be able
to best advise our patients regarding elements of their care

Work with colleagues to provide a comprehensive dermatology service to the Trust and
ensure that the highest standards of care are achieved
* Work with colleagues in planning service delivery including a forward looking and
innovative practice.
* Contribute to the Trust's corporate and strategic objectives and undertake
mandatory training required by the Trust.
* Work with colleagues to meet the required activity targets of the Trust.
* Play an active role in implementing the Trust 's Clinical Governance program.
* Demonstrate active participation in clinical audit.
* Demonstrate excellence in patient care.
* Deputise for colleagues including covering for absence of leave at short notice in
exceptional circumstances.
* Take an active role in development of services through leadership and other roles.
* Support the development of a culture of continuous improvement, developing and
contributing to service developments and the formulation of business cases to
support these.
* Effectively plan, communicate and execute change.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Eligibility to be entered on the Specialist Register in Dermatology or be within 6 months of a CCT or CESR in Dermatology MRCP or Equivalent Full GMC registration Up to date certification with clinical life support (CLS)
