Healthcare Assistant - STEPS Inpatient Eating Disorders Team
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivatedHealthcare Assistant to join the STEPS Inpatient Eating Disorders Team at the Acer Unit, Blackberry Hill Hospital, Bristol.
We are looking for an individual with a genuine interest in supporting people experiencing eating disorders and who is committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will work as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary nursing team, supporting patients throughout their recovery journey.
You will receive ongoing support from the Ward Manager and experienced colleagues, with access to excellent supervision and development structures. This role offers a range of learning and progression opportunities, enabling you to build specialist knowledge of eating disorders and further develop your skills and competencies as a Healthcare Assistant.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about mental health care and is keen to develop a rewarding career within a specialist inpatient service.

Main duties of the job
Working along side qualified RMN staff to deliver compassionate care for patient suffering with eating disorders
Engagement and observations, meal support in the dining room ( eating with our patients) 1-1 meal support, escorted leave, personal wellbeing plan conversations.
supporting housekeeping staff with meal prep
physical health observations
writing clear notes on RiO, updating safety assessment and PWP.
completing incident forms
Engaging with patients in community setting - taking patients out on leave to cafe's and supermarkets to help enhance their skills in the community

Person Specification
Essential Essential
The Care Certificate (Cavendish Certificate of Fundamental Care) or equivalent. Experience of working as a healthcare support worker in a clinical team. Knowledge of, and experience of working with, a range of mental health issues Interest in working with patient with eating disorders Demonstrable ability to use computer systems
Desirable
Experience of working in a busy team, and an ability to use initiative at times of pressure. Ability to communicate in written and verbal English to a high standard, and basic numeracy skills. Ability to work with a degree of autonomy, whilst also taking direction from senior colleagues.
