Headway London is seeking a Technical Instructor to provide therapeutic input to members of Headway Londons Day Service including running an extensive group programme alongside the therapy team. This role will also involve working in the Enfield Community Brain Injury Service and the Headway London Day Service (East) completing administrative tasks, providing one-to-one therapy and group work independently and in conjunction with the therapy team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Direct Therapeutic Intervention and Rehabilitation
Run a varietyof therapeutic groups including dance, open gym sessions, chairbased exercise, upper limb therapy, yoga, tai chi and relaxation, memory and cognitive groups, peer support and brain injury education sessions ensuring a wide range of therapeutic programmes is on offer.Assessment, Clinical Reasoning and Risk Management
Undertake delegated assessments and outcome measures independently, or under the direction of qualified therapy staff, including assessment of mobility, falls risk, transfers, provision of small equipment, standardised balance measures, cognitive screening tools, mood questionnaires, behavioural experiments, and Goal Attainment Scaling (GAS).Client and Partnership Support
Instruct carers and relatives, providing direction and guidance on a range of therapeutic activities as part of own clinical work or as directed by the qualified therapist.Clinical Documentation, Governance and Professional Practice
Accurately record and feedback findings, identifying any complex issues or changes that require further assessment, intervention, or review by a qualified clinician.Therapy Service Development and Sustainability
Contribute to and support any projects for improving the Therapy Service and the development of the therapy group programme and seek out and develop potential collaborations with other services within the organisation eg: art and music projects.

Run a variety of therapeutic groups including dance, open gym sessions, chair-based exercise, upper limb therapy, yoga, tai chi and relaxation, memory and cognitive groups, peer support and brain injury education sessions ensuring a wide range of therapeutic programmes is on offer.Carry out personalised therapy programmes with members / clients,, monitor their progress against their rehabilitation goal(s) and progress as able or provide feedback to qualified therapy staff: Examples of techniques include (but is not limited to) gym programmes, mobility practice, travel practice, relaxation techniques, behavioural activation interventions, upper limb rehabilitation and interventions to support members to develop and maintain a daily and weekly structure to promote their psychological and physical wellbeing.Support individuals to practise and consolidate therapeutic strategies developed by qualified therapy staff, such as memory aids, anger management techniques, anxiety management strategies, and other rehabilitation approaches. Facilitate the application and generalisation of these strategies across a range of environments, including activities in the day service, at home, community settings, educational placements, and other relevant contexts. Monitor progress, provide feedback on effectiveness, and identify any difficulties or emerging needs that require review by a qualified.Contribute to the evaluation of therapeutic interventions using appropriate outcome measures, adjusting interventions as appropriate and working towards achieving personalised goals.Assessment, Clinical Reasoning and Risk Management

Work within the legal framework with members who lack capacity to consent to assessment, treatment or intervention ensuring decisions are made in best interests and appropriate documentation, communication and safeguarding procedures are followed. Seek guidance from qualified therapists in complex cases.Client and Partnership Support
Instruct carers and relatives, providing direction and guidance on a range of therapeutic activities as part of own clinical work or as directed by the qualified therapist.Work collaboratively with Headways Day Service co-ordinators, other Headway services and volunteers on members therapeutic programmes to ensure a consistent approach.Liaise with statutory services including social care, DWP, community rehabilitation teams, other voluntary services and / or any other relevant services to ensure members' needs are met outside of Headway.Clinical Documentation, Governance and Professional Practice

Knowledge Essential

Qualifications Essential
NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification
Desirable
Undertaken and completed courses related to acquired brain injury and or other neurological conditions
Experience Essential
Previous experience working one-to-one with adults with a brain injury or affected by another neurological condition.
Desirable
Experience of implementing therapeutic programmes for adults with a brain injury or other neurological conditions. Experience in providing intervention relating to activity and participation (as defined by the WHO). Experience as a therapy/ rehabilitation assistant working with adults with a brain injury or other neurological condition.
