Job summary
Meddygfa Rhydbach is looking for an enthusiastic and caring Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly and supportive GP Practice.
The successful candidate will work as part of our multidisciplinary team, supporting the delivering of high quality patient centered care to our local community.
We are looking for a reliable, professional and approachable individual who enjoys working with patients and as part of a close knit team. Training and support will be provided where appropriate.

We have three GP's here, two Physician associates , two Practice Nurses. We are a dispensing practice, we work closely with a District nursing team including a physiotherapy, audiology, as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.

Job description Job responsibilities
To support the Practice Nursing and wider clinical team in the delivery of high-quality, safe and patient-centred care. The Health Care Assistant will undertake delegated clinical duties within their level of competence and in accordance with practice policies and procedures.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Undertake phlebotomy Measure and record blood pressure, pulse, height, weight and BMI Undertake urinalysis and collection of specimens Perform ECGs Undertake basic health checks and patient observations Provide simple wound care and dressings within competency Administer B12 injections following appropriate training, competency assessment and practice protocols Act as a chaperone when required Support Practice Nurses and other clinicians with patient care Prepare clinical rooms before and after clinics Ensure clinical equipment is clean, maintained and ready for use Follow infection prevention and control procedures Dispose of clinical waste and sharps safely Accurately record all relevant information on the patients clinical record Maintain patient confidentiality at all times Recognise and report any concerns or abnormal observations to an appropriate clinician Participate in relevant training and maintain competencies appropriate to the role General Responsibilities
The post holder will work as part of the wider practice team and contribute to the smooth running of the practice. They will be expected to follow all practice policies relating to confidentiality, information governance, health and safety, safeguarding and infection prevention and control.
The duties of the post may develop over time following appropriate discussion, training and competency assessment.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Experience of working with patients. Experience of working as part of a team Good communication skills
Desirable
Previous Healthcare experience Experience of working in a GP practice Phlebotomy experience
Qualifications Essential
Good standard of general education Willingness to undertake relevant training and competency assessments NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care Phlebotomy Training/qualification. Previous experience as a Health Care assistant or within Primary care
Desirable
Healthcare-related qualification, such as level 2 or 3 in Health and social care. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
