Job summary
The Pharmacy Technician Apprentice will work as part of the multidisciplinary Primary Care Network (PCN) team while undertaking an approved Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship with Buttercups The postholder will develop the knowledge skills and behaviours required to become a registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) following the 2 year training programme
Working under the supervision of registered Pharmacy Technicians Clinical Pharmacists and GPs the apprentice will support the safe effective and efficient use of medicines across the PCN This role combines workplace learning with formal study and includes protected learning time
Main duties of the job
Medicines Optimisation
Support the delivery of safe and effective medicines optimisation services Support patients in understanding their medicines and promote adherence Identify patients who may benefit from medication reviews or other pharmacy services Assist with medicines reconciliation following discharge from hospital Clinical Support
Assist in maintaining accurate medication records Support the management of medicines related queries from patients and healthcare professionals Work with GP practices to improve prescribing safety and quality Support the monitoring of high risk medicines under supervision Medicines Safety
Assist with audits relating to prescribing and medicines management Help identify and report medication incidents and near misses Contribute to quality improvement projects Support compliance with national and local prescribing guidance Administrative Duties
Maintain accurate electronic patient records Prepare reports and documentation as required Support stock management where appropriate Participate in data collection and performance monitoring

Complete all requirements of the Pharmacy Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Attend training provider sessions Maintain a portfolio of evidence Participate in regular supervision appraisal and reflective practice Work towards registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Team Working
Work collaboratively with GPs nurses pharmacists pharmacy technicians care coordinators and other members of the multidisciplinary team Participate in PCN and practice meetings where appropriate Develop positive working relationships with community pharmacies hospitals and other healthcare providers General Responsibilities

Qualifications Essential
Qualifications GCSE or equivalent Grade 4 C or above in English and Mathematics Meets the entry requirements for the Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Knowledge Basic understanding of the NHS and primary care Awareness of confidentiality and data protection Understanding of the importance of patient centred care Skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Good organisational and time management skills IT literacy including Microsoft Office and willingness to learn clinical systems Ability to work accurately and pay attention to detail Ability to prioritise workload under supervision Personal Attributes Motivated to learn and develop Professional and reliable Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team Demonstrates integrity compassion and respect Flexible and adaptable
Desirable
Experience working in a healthcare pharmacy or customer service environment Knowledge of primary care systems Experience using electronic patient record systems Understanding of medicines optimisation Previous experience in administration or healthcare support

Ability to drive Must be able to work in both practices face to face,
