PURPOSE OF THE ROLE We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Transformer Design Engineer to support in design, develop, and optimize power and distribution transformers that meet customer specifications, industry standards, and business objectives. The role involves performing electrical and mechanical design calculations, developing cost-effective and manufacturable solutions, and ensuring product reliability and performance. Responsibilities include supporting projects from concept and tendering stages through production, testing, and field support. The engineer will also drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and design optimization. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Develop transformer designs in compliance with IEC, IEEE, ANSI, IS, and customer-specific standards. • Perform design validation using finite element analysis (FEA) and electromagnetic simulation tools. • Prepare general arrangement drawings, manufacturing drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and design specifications. • Conduct design reviews and risk assessments throughout the product development lifecycle. • Support prototype development, factory acceptance testing (FAT), routine testing, type testing, and special testing activities. • Interpret test results and implement design improvements based on performance data. • Drive cost reduction initiatives through value engineering and design optimization. • Coordinate with suppliers for technical evaluation and selection of transformer components and accessories. • Ensure compliance with environmental, sustainability, and energy-efficiency regulations. • Maintain design databases, standardization documents, and engineering change records. • Investigate field failures and customer complaints, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). • Provide technical support during bid preparation, tender reviews, and customer technical discussions. • Participate in new product development (NPD) and technology enhancement projects. • Review manufacturing feedback and continuously improve designs for quality, productivity, and ease of assembly. • Develop and validate overload capability, thermal aging, and transformer life expectancy calculations. • Interface with project management teams to ensure timely execution of engineering deliverables. Work Experience COMPETENCIES & SKILLS
• Experience in design detailing, engineering calculations, specification and reviewing the structural assements of the transformer • Extensive and detailed knowledge of design and make of the power transformer • Knowledge of transformer manufacturing processes. Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM). Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles. • Understanding of HV insulation systems. Experience in failure analysis and reliability engineering. PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. • 7-10 years of experience in transformer design (distribution or power transformers). • Strong understanding of transformer design principles and manufacturing processes. • Ensure designs comply with: IEC 60076 | IEEE C57 Standards IT SYSTEMS & SOTWARE SKILLS
• MS Office tools: MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project. • Software: CAD Tools (NX,CATIA,Creo,Solidworks) ERP System (SAP), MES(Simatic IT, Solumina) • Solidworks, Ansys, Dassault Systemes-3 D experience. • Analysis tools: Minitab14 and • Product Lifecycle Management: Siemens Teamcenter / ptc Windchill / Dassualt Innovia DESIRED PROFILE Candidate must be a Proactive, Result oriented with a positive attitude, high ethics, and a track record of working successfully in a fast paced and time-constrained environment
