PURPOSE OF THE ROLE Manufacturing Engineer with extensive experience in transformer manufacturing processes, quality systems, new product introduction, and process optimization. Skilled in APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, GD&T interpretation, process validation, supplier quality management, and transformer testing. Proven ability to drive Right First Time (RFT), reduce defects, improve process capability, and ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, and ISO standards while supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Thorough understanding of transformer manufacturing processes, including core assembly, winding, insulation, tank fabrication, drying, oil filling, and final testing. • Knowledge of transformer quality requirements and compliance with applicable industry standards such as IEC, IEEE, IS, EN, and customer-specific specifications. • Experience in implementing APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Validation activities for transformer components and assemblies. • Ability to review and approve manufacturing process qualifications, First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), PPAP documentation, and product validation records. • Familiarity with transformer routine, type, and special tests, including insulation resistance, turns ratio, winding resistance, impedance, temperature rise, and dielectric testing. • Support supplier qualification and development activities to ensure compliance with approved manufacturing standards, quality requirements, and regulatory approvals. • Drive process capability improvements and defect reduction initiatives in transformer manufacturing through Lean, Six Sigma, and Root Cause Analysis methodologies. • Experience in obtaining and maintaining product certifications and standard approvals from customer, regulatory, and certification bodies. • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with safety, environmental, and quality management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and applicable industry regulations. • Collaborate with Design, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production teams to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM), cost optimization, and successful new product introduction (NPI) for transformer products. Work Experience COMPETENCIES & SKILLS
• Strong knowledge of transformer manufacturing processes including core cutting & stacking, coil winding, insulation assembly, tank fabrication, vacuum drying, oil filling, and final assembly. • Expertise in interpreting Engineering and Manufacturing Drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications. • Hands on experience in using all types of measuring & testing equipment, both contact - non-contact, analogue & digital • Able to support root cause analysis and implementation of problem-solving techniques like 8D • Working knowledge and experience of using QC tools and SPC analysis • Hands on experience of working in CFTs for creation of PFMEA and control plans • Knowledge of transformer industry standards such as IEC 60076, IEEE, IS, and customer-specific requirements. • Graduate in a Mechanical Degree/Diploma or equivalent work experience • Should have background on Quality Management Systems IT SYSTEMS & SOTWARE SKILLS
