About this role

JOB PURPOSE: Lead the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of ADNOC Group’s Business Continuity Management (BCM) framework to ensure organizational resilience against a wide range of disruptions. Serve as the Group Technical Authority (GTA) and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Business Continuity, providing expert guidance and oversight across the ADNOC Group. Drive the formulation and execution of BCM strategies, policies, and governance structures in alignment with ADNOC’s corporate risk appetite, UAE national regulations (e.g., NCEMA 7000), and international standards such as ISO 22301. Champion the integration of BCM with enterprise risk management (ERM), crisis management, and emergency response frameworks to ensure a cohesive and proactive approach to resilience. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, Group Companies, government entities, and critical third-party partners to embed a culture of preparedness, ensure regulatory compliance, and build BCM capabilities across the value chain. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Strategic Leadership & Governance • Develop, update, and act as the owner of ADNOC Group-wide Business Continuity Standards at internationally competitive levels. • Serve as the Group Technical Authority (GTA) and SME for the Business Continuity discipline. • Participate in and contribute to the Business Continuity Technical Discipline Council. • Lead the development and implementation of the ADNOC-wide BCM strategy, policies, procedures, and governance framework. Risk Management & Planning • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and Business Impact Analyses (BIAs) to identify critical processes, threats, and recovery priorities. • Develop, document, and maintain Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans across ADNOC Group entities. • Recommend technology and digitalization solutions to enhance BCM performance and resilience. Testing, Assurance & Compliance Design and lead regular BCM testing and exercises (e.g., failover simulations, tabletop scenarios) to validate plan effectiveness. • Provide Business Continuity compliance and assurance services, ensuring alignment with ADNOC standards and regulatory requirements. • Participate in and/or lead incident reviews and investigations, providing SME input on Business Continuity aspects. Performance Monitoring & Reporting • Oversee the development of Group-wide BCM KPIs, indicators, and dashboards. • Monitor BCM performance metrics and prepare insights and reports for GCs CEOs and Business Line Directors (BLDs). • Recommend improvements based on performance trends and lessons learned. Capability Development & Awareness • Support, coach, and mentor Business Continuity professionals across ADNOC Group, with a focus on developing UAE National talent. • Develop and lead BCM awareness campaigns and training programs to embed a culture of resilience. • Identify and recommend opportunities for HSE cost optimization, digitalization, and standardization of best practices across the Group. Continuous Improvement • Lead Group-wide BCM improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with ADNOC’s strategic objectives and operational excellence. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define roles, responsibilities, and communication protocols for recovery efforts. Supervision • Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives. • Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives. Budgets • Provide input for preparation of the Department budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Section objectives. • Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures • Implement approved Department policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the Department work programs in line with Company and International standards. Performance Management • Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Department in line with the Company Performance framework. Innovation and Continuous Improvement • Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes. • Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best practise in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function. Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) • Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices. Reports • Provide inputs to prepare MIS and progress reports for Company Management. COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Internal • Regular contacts with the employees and the concerned management staff of the Group Companies and their contractors when conducting Safety Inspections/Audits related to Logistics (transportation) Safety. • Regular contacts with the employees and the concerned management staff of the GCs ,their contractors and across businesses and functions via COPs External • UAE/Abu Dhabi regulators, governmental agencies and ADNOC shareholders • International Organizations/Institutions for HSE regulations and standards QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Minimum Qualification • Bachelor Degree in Engineering such as Mechanical, Industrial or equivalent discipline. Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills • 10 years’ operational experience in the oil/gas production/ operation or petrochemical industry with at least 8 years’ experience in emergency/crisis/business continuity management role. • Have strong understanding of the BCM issues, practices and behavioral aspects in the Oil & Gas business. • Enhanced Knowledge of internal business processes, standards, policies and procedures. • In-depth knowledge of relevant BCM applicable legislations, regulations, standards and best practices including: o AE/HSC/NCEMA 7000 Standard and Guidance for BC Management; o ISO 22301 Security and Resilience — Business continuity management systems Requirements o ISO 22313 Business continuity management systems Guidance; o BCI Good Practice Guidelines; and o NFPA 1600 Standard on Disaster/Emergency Management and Business Continuity Programs Professional Certifications • Obtain relevant Business Continuity certification(s) and membership – either from Business Continuity Institute (BCI, UK) and / or Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII, USA) (e.g., CBCI, CBCP, AMBCI, MBCI, MBCP etc.) or any other recognised professional bodies. • ISO 22301 Lead Implementer • ISO 22301 Lead Auditor
