The Endoscopy Technician assists licensed physicians and nurses in perioperative care with delegated tasks in many aspects of patient care, including but not limited to patient care assistance, care of the environment, transportation of patients, handling of supplies, equipment, specimens, and turnover of procedure room.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

• Schedule can be 5-8 hour shifts or 4-10 hour shifts

• Schedule will be Monday through Friday between 7am-5:30pm

• On call requirements: 1-night a week, 1-Friday a month, and 1-weekend a month.

• Demonstrate clinical competence in assisting during G.I. Lab procedures and the perioperative phase, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, in delivering safe and effective care to the patient.

• Remove video monitors/equipment/scopes from use, label the equipment "Out of Order" if not functional, and notify the Charge Nurse and the Endoscopy Nurse of the monitor equipment/scope problem.

• Maintain appropriate endoscopy supplies at PAR levels.

• Assist the Endoscopist during the procedure.

• Check video monitors, equipment and scopes prior to the start of the procedure.

• Clean, disinfect and sterilize of endoscopes and non-disposable endoscopy equipment, instruments and supplies.

• Gather and assemble equipment, instruments and supplies for the endoscopic procedure.

• Fulltime 40 Hours/week

• Call requirement - 1 night/week, 1 weekend/month, up to 2 holidays per year

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma/GED-Required

• 1 year Anatomy and Physiology Knowledge Preferred

• Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) - optional
