Payroll Specialist St. Louis, MO (hybrid schedule) *Opportunity to grow with a large organization in the STL area!Job DescriptionWe are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Payroll Specialist to manage payroll operations and ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll data. The ideal candidate will maintain confidentiality and compliance with applicable regulations while supporting the company's mission and values.Responsibilities
• Obtain and enter accurate and timely HR information and payroll data into the payroll system. • Analyze and input timecard data into the computerized payroll system. • Maintain confidentiality of all company, employee, and customer data. • Ensure employee wages are paid in accordance with collective bargaining agreements. • Process payroll changes, including new hires, promotions, terminations, transfers, leaves of absence, garnishments, manual checks, and various payroll deductions. • Ensure compliance and follow controls to achieve error-free payroll and detect discrepancies. • Respond accurately and timely to management and employee inquiries, consulting with others as needed. • Track and submit certified reports to ensure compliance for prevailing wage jobs. • Scan and archive payroll-related documents following approved policies and procedures. Essential Skills
• High School diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in business administration, accounting, or related field preferred. • Minimum 2+ years of work experience in payroll processing. • Experience using payroll software and systems, preferably eCMS software systems. • Expertise in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel. • Experience working with confidential information and maintaining information security. • Superior analytical and mathematical skills. • Strong independent problem-solving skills and high detail orientation. • Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification or interest in achieving it preferred. • Knowledge of the construction industry is a plus. • Demonstrated high level of integrity and dependability. • Effective collaboration, organizational, prioritization, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills. • High-quality documentation and report preparation. Work EnvironmentThe work schedule is Monday to Thursday in the office from 8 AM to 5 PM, with the option to work from home on Fridays. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fenton, MO. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
