About this role
We are a non-profit childcare Centre in the North York/ Toronto area. We provide high quality early learning and care for children from 6-12 years of age.
We are a before and after school program that provided care during the school year (split shift) and all non-school days to Full 8+ hour shifts. (summer, PA days, March break, Christmas break etc...)
7:15-9:15 and 2:00-6:00 School year
shift between the hours of- 7:30:-6:00 (non-instruction school days )
Applicants must hold an RECE qualification, valid CPR and First Aid certification and obtain a medical and vulnerable sector screening.
GRASP _provides a caring, educational and inclusive program for young children in a group setting under the direction of the Program Supervisor. The RECE incorporates learning experiences designed to meet the individual needs of the children and helps with providing a physically safe and emotionally supportive environment showing sensitivity to the individual needs of children in all aspects of development using the ELECT Framework and How Does Learning Happen Document. This position calls for sound knowledge and experience in the techniques of Early Childhood Education and the ability to work constructively and effectively as a member of a professional team in the management of classrooms._
_PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES:_
* _Plan, develop and implement appropriate learning opportunities weekly in accordance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and Toronto Children?s Services Assurance for Quality Improvement (AQI)_ * _Participate in the development and implementation of programs that promote Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement and Expression in all areas of the program: dramatic and cognitive play, language and literacy experiences, emotional development, music discovery, science/nature, fine and gross motor and sensory activities_ * _Collaborate with co-workers regarding planning and extension of learning opportunities Document observations as per AQI requirements to ensure that necessary supplies are available for the planned program. Be aware at all times of materials on hand and advise the Supervisor in advance of necessary replacements in writing_ * _Keep up to date display boards_ * _Use a variety of classroom management techniques including modelling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, reinforcing and redirecting_ * _Provide positive social experiences which include sharing, cooperation, respect for others and self-regulation physical environment prior to children?s arrival_ * _Set-up and prepare physical environment prior to children?s arrival_ * _Perform playground checks daily, record information to ensure surface and equipment is safe_ * _Implement consistent behaviour guidance methods in accordance with the program's Behaviour Guidance Policies_ * _Support implementation of Individual Support Plans through all of the above_ * _Escort children as required to and from school classrooms_
_*ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:*_
* _Provide the Supervisor with program plans and schedules as required by the Supervisor_ * _Keep accurate records of children's daily attendance, medical information and parent requests_ * _Inform Supervisor of all personal information changes (i.e. the address and phone numbers)_ * _Read communication book daily and implement and document pertinent information_ * _Assist with preparation and attend staff meetings and evening functions (Annual Meeting)_ * _Supervise and train students, supply staff and volunteers_ * _Assist with planning of non-instructional days and in-house special events_ * _Accompany and supervise all children on field trips_ * _Supervise college students and complete evaluations as required_ * _Participate in the annual performance review process and as needed_ * _Establish and implement goals for professional learning_
