We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and energetic individual to fill the full-time position of Emergency Management Coordinator, in a role that also meets the intent of CRI funding for FireSmart Coordinator responsibilities. Reporting to the Manager of Emergency Management, the successful candidate will coordinate, implement, and administer initiatives across the Electoral Areas, with a strong focus on public education, community engagement, FireSmart/wildfire prevention, and community resiliency. This position plays a key role in building awareness, strengthening local preparedness, and increasing participation in mitigation programs through outreach, relationship-building, training, and exercises involving personnel, volunteers, and the public. The role requires the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and external agencies, and to act as a liaison with provincial and federal governments as appropriate. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with enthusiasm, initiative, and critical thinking, will be important assets in this position. The successful candidate will also train for and work within an Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in any assigned function. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: A degree in Emergency Management, Environmental Sciences, Geography, Environmental Engineering or related field with a good understanding of and experience working with emergency management, disaster risk reduction or wildfire mitigation initiatives, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in local government service delivery and practices is preferred, and knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures pertaining to emergency management, disaster risk reduction and wildfire services, would be an asset. Experience in public promotion, managing projects, conducting research and feasibility studies is required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly, and converse with a wide range of people including technical consultants, elected officials, senior staff, line staff and the public to provide advice, make recommendations and make effective presentations. Ability to work without supervision, exercise good judgment, and effectively handle competing priorities and non-routine situations. Must exhibit maturity, courtesy, tact, and diplomacy in all matters. Must possess a valid Driver?s License. The job rate for this full-time Union position is $48.82 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package. You will be required to complete the six-month probationary period.
