About this role

This is an excellent opportunity for an Accounts Assistant looking to develop their career within accountancy practice and gain hands on experience across accounts, tax and wider practice work.

You will join a well established and supportive accountancy practice in Chichester, working alongside experienced and qualified Accountants across a varied portfolio of clients. The role offers strong exposure to client work from an early stage, with genuine opportunity to develop your technical skills and progress your career over time.

The firm uses modern, cloud based accounting systems, providing an excellent environment for someone looking to build their experience within practice.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts & Bookkeeping

Process client data using cloud accounting software including Xero, Dext, Sage and QuickBooks.

Develop your bookkeeping skills with the opportunity to progress into year end accounts preparation and tax work.

Assist with the preparation of year end accounts for Limited Companies, LLPs, Sole Traders and Partnerships.

Prepare accounts packs and supporting documentation for client submission.

Work through file review points and make necessary amendments.

Work within agreed client budgets and deadlines.

Tax & Practice Support

Assist with the preparation and filing of corporation tax returns under supervision.

Assist with the preparation and filing of personal tax returns.

Support with ad hoc duties throughout the year, including P11D submissions.

Ensure work is completed in accordance with internal procedures, policies and relevant legislation.

Support Accountants and the wider team as required.

Client Service & Development

Gain exposure to a broad and varied portfolio of clients.

Develop your technical knowledge through hands on client work.

Build your understanding of accounts, bookkeeping and tax within an accountancy practice environment.

Take responsibility for your work while receiving ongoing support and guidance from experienced colleagues.

Continue developing your skills with the opportunity to progress within the firm over time.

Requirements

Requirements Skills & Experience

Some previous experience within an accountancy or bookkeeping environment.

Practice experience would be beneficial, although this is not essential.

A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within accounts and tax.

Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.

Good time management and the ability to work effectively to deadlines.

Confident communication skills and a team focused approach.

Previous experience using accounting software, or a willingness and ability to learn new systems quickly.

A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
