GROUP: Substitute SALARY: Substitute Salary Schedule FLSA STATUS: Non -Exempt WORKDAYS PER FISCAL YEAR: on-call SUMMARY: The Guest Office Support will assist in various CLS departments, as needed. Duties may include fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, word processing, creating spreadsheets, filing and record keeping. ABOUT CHIEF LESCHI SCHOOLS: Formerly known as the Puyallup Tribal School, Chief Leschi Schools was founded in 1976 to address the high dropout rate of the youth of the Puyallup tribe. It is the largest of seven tribal schools in the state of Washington and one of approximately 200+ tribal schools in the United States. It is also one of the largest tribal schools to be funded by the Bureau of Indian Education. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
• Provides secretarial and clerical support to the department.
• Works with confidential information and understands when to refer to other staff members.
• May assist with Inventory, order, organize office supplies, promotional/recruiting items, business forms/cards for the departments.
• Exemplifies superior customer service; maintains a professional demeanor when dealing with difficult or emotional situations; responds promptly to staff, student and public needs; solicits feedback to improve service; responds to requests for service and assistance.
• Work and communicate effectively with all areas of the school, students/parents/guardians, the Puyallup Tribe, community members, and vendors as needed.
• Position vacancy coverage: support all departments school-wide.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school graduation or General Education Diploma (GED) Two years in an office/education environment Proficient in business office, neat, organized, punctual attendance, and welcoming to the public CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Successful criminal background clearance Successful and/or clear drug screening KNOWLEDGE OF: Ability to organize facts and present them in a clear, concise, and logical manner, both verbally and in written form. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. ABILITY TO: Take initiative and work independently Communicate effectively verbally and in writing Maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups in a multicultural and diverse community Work collaboratively with school and central office administrators, parents, and community members Demonstrate understanding of and experience with cultural competence Ability to meet given timelines for school, state, and BIE reporting requirements Ability to receive and respond to written and verbal directions Ability to operate various types of office equipment Ability to organize facts and present them in a clear and concise manner, both orally and written Comply with school board policies and follow administrative procedures REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Manager/Administrator or assigned designee PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this position. • Employees may be required to sit or stand for extended periods and perform tasks involving reaching, talking, hearing, bending, stooping, twisting, squatting, kneeling, and fine motor coordination.
• This position may require regularly lifting or moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds, with appropriate assistance or equipment as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed in an indoor educational environment with moderate noise levels. Employees may work in and/or proximity to classrooms, students, and standard office or instructional equipment. Conditions may vary based on program needs.
