General Definition of Work The Board Governance, Support, and Operations Officer, under minimal supervision, performs senior level work with considerable decision-making discretion providing governance, statutory, constituent services and operational oversight for the Board of Education. This position will execute the duties of Board Clerk and support Board leadership, overseeing governance operations, and ensuring board processes align with legal requirements and best practices. This position is often privy to confidential information and as such requires diplomacy and discretion. Employee performs advanced and supervisory work to carry out Board of Education policies and procedures related to the overall operations of the Office of Board Governance, Constituent Services and Support under the direction of the Board Leadership. Salary/Status Market PG 10 Salary/Full-time, 12 months Reports To Board Leadership Place of Work The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time. Essential Functions
• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
• Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff/programs
• Investigate, analyze, and formulate methods for handling special projects/reports
• Provide leadership and oversight for Board governance, constituent services, support, and operational functions
• Coordinate administrative and procedural support for the Chair and Vice Chair of the Board
• Coordinate, participate in, and support Board hearings, including preparation, logistics, and official documentation
• Ensure compliance with open meetings laws, public records requirements, and Board policies
• Interface with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of department
• Oversee agenda management systems, financial and budget operations, governance workflows, constituent services and records retention practices
• Provide oversight for the division for board meeting planning and logistics with an emphasis on building systems for quality control, seamless runs-of-show, and continuous improvement
• Attend regular and called meetings of the Board of Education as needed/required
• Facilitate staff meetings and attend other related meetings as needed/required
• Complete local, state, or federal surveys and reports accurately and promptly
• Participate in professional development workshops and leadership training
• Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations
• Perform related work as assigned or required

• Comprehensive in-depth knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures of public school system policies
• Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements applicable to public school units and local Boards of Education
• Skilled in effective use of mediation and conflict resolution techniques
• Ability to maintain professional and emotional control under stress
• Ability to reflect appropriate response to situations, while maintaining a professional and personal demeanor

Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, School Administration, or related area required
• Master's degree in related area preferred
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience in governance operations or related area preferred
• Equivalent combination of experience and education
Special Requirements
• Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License or ability to provide own transportation
• Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
