About this role

Preschool Instructional Assistant Qualifications: at least 60 hours of college credit or an Associate's Degree or a passing score on the Ketucky Paraprofessional Test. Reports To: Preschool Teacher, Building Principal, Preschool Coordinator, and Superintendent. Job Duties/ Responsibilities: 1. Tutors individuals or small groups of students. 2. Reinforces and implements instruction as directed by the teacher. 3. Maintains progress of students. 4. Participates as a member of an instructional team including the admissions and Release Committees when necessary. 5. Assists with lesson planning. 6. Assists in administering diagnostic and other tests; scores and records test information. 7. Reads, understands, and assists in implementing, recording, and monitoring students' IEP. 8. Performs routine clerical duties such as preparation of instructional and classroom materials; operates copy machines; maintains classroom records and attendance records. 9. Provides support to the teacher by setting up work or center area, displays and exhibits, operation audio-visual equipment, distributing and collecting papers and supplies. 10. Assists in overseeing students at all times. 11. Assists students in such physical tasks as putting on and taking off outerwear, moving from room to room, using the restroom and others. 12. Serves as a bus monitor when necessary. 13. Assists students in getting on and off the bus. 14. Assists students by providing proper examples, emotional support, and a

friendly attitude and general guidance. 15. Confers with teachers concerning programs and materials to meet student needs. 16. Makes home visits with the teacher as necessary. 17. Assures the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and regulations. 18. Directs group activities of students as assigned; assists in monitoring the cafeteria and playground activities as assigned; assist in emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips. 19. Participates in meetings and professional development activities as assigned. 20. Performs related duties as assigned.
