About this role
The Aurora Public School District is accepting applications for subtitue teachers to provide instructional continuity during regular teacher absences. Substitute teachers deliver lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher, maintain a safe and productive learning environment, and support student achievement across our PK-12 district of approximately 1,250 students. Substitutes may be called to serve at the elementary, middle, or high school level. Substitute Teachers must have minimum of a high school diploma, with Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, and valid Nebraska Department of Education Educator Certification. Examples of valid certificates include: Initial or Standard Teaching Certidicate, Local Substitute Certificate, State Substitute Certificate, and/or Administrative Certificate. Substitute Teachers must posses strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work with students across a wide range of ages and ability levels. Reliability and flexibility to accept assignments on short notice is essential. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
• Follow the classroom teacher's lesson plans and daily schedule as closely as possible
• Take attendance and follow all classroom and building procedures
• Maintaine a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment consistent with district Safety & Security expectations
• Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, recess, and other assigned areas as needed
• Communicate any significant classroom events, concerns, or incidents to the building principal or office staff
• Leave the classroom in good order and provide the regular teacher with notes on the day's activities
• Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal
