About this role
The job of Office Specialist is done for the purpose/s of supporting school site staff by providing general secretarial support, information and/or direction and responding to inquiries from parents, students and staff. Responsibilities include:
• Adheres to the procedural directions, training, and oversight provided by the Data Specialist as related to student information
• Administers medications and/or first aid to students under the direction of a health care professional
• Answers incoming telephone calls
• Coordinates assigned projects and/or processes (e.g. new staff phones/mail, student discipline, purchase orders, Mayor's Reading Club, etc.)
• Distributes a variety of materials (e.g. mail, checks, supplies, messages, etc.)
• Ensures accuracy of attendance records; monitors students referred for illness, discipline, etc.
• Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. copying, faxing, scheduling, correspondence, work orders, transportation forms, cumulative folders, etc.)
• Prepares documents (e.g. newsletters, flyers, certificates, awards, letters to parents, etc.)
• Processes documents, forms, mailings and materials (e.g. daily attendance, enrollment, instructional material, report data, etc.)
• Procures homework assignments from teachers for absent students
• Provides in-service training to school site staff
• Receives payments from students (e.g. fees, fines, lunch monies, etc.)
• Responds to inquiries of students, staff, other educational institutions and/or the public
• Assists other personnel and performs other duties, as assigned
Experience is desired. Full time during the school year, with Benefits. Requirements:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Pre-employment proficiency test
• Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance
• Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English
This is an 11-month position.
