Join the Essex Tech team as a Custodial/Maintenance Supervisor and help keep our campus safe, clean, and ready for each school day. This hands-on leadership role oversees second-shift custodial operations, coordinates work orders and facility needs, supports general maintenance, and leads a dedicated custodial team. We're looking for someone with 5+ years of facility maintenance experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and knowledge of custodial practices and building maintenance. CORI, SORI, and SAFIS required. Bilingual preferred. JOB DESCRIPTION CUSTODIAL/MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR – SECOND SHIFT QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have at least five years experience in a facility maintenance position

• Must possess leadership ability and cleaning knowledge

• Must possess knowledge of methods, materials, and practices in building custodial work, including proper use and care of custodial equipment

• Experience in one or more of the following areas preferred: basic electrical, carpentry, plumbing, equipment repair, painting, cleaning or other related maintenance areas

• Must demonstrate skill in human relations and communication

• Must demonstrate the ability to effectively use and communicate with email and computer-based maintenance system

• Must demonstrate the ability to problem-solve with minimal supervision.

REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities, Farm, and Grounds RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serve as the foreman for the second shift custodial staff who are responsible for cleaning and assist in facility operations.

• Responsible for ensuring that the facility is cleaned to the specification of the cleaning plan and ready for the next instructional day.

• Navigate, issue, and close work orders on the computerized maintenance system.

• Available to participate in a rotational “on-call” program responding to building and other emergencies.

• Prepare cleaning assignments for members of the custodial team and adjust assignments as needed due to team member absences due to illness or vacation.

• Provide training for the custodial team, as needed.

• Perform quality control of cleaning team assignments and direct re-cleaning of spaces, when necessary.

• Perform general maintenance for the facility under the direction of the Director of Facilities, Farm, and Grounds or designee, and make cleaning and maintenance recommendations to Director.

• Responsible for checking the District Schedule for events during Second Shift and coordinating with Supervisor of Custodial Services and Operations to ensure that the facility requirements are met.

• Refer discipline or poor job performance issues to the Director of Facilities, Farm, and Grounds.

• Direct repair of District assets and facilities for the purpose of ensuring that items and facilities are in safe working condition.

• Assist in maintaining heating/cooling system, clock system, alarm system, repair requests, records of repair, estimate time/materials, and work records.

• Ensure that all district buildings are secure at the completion of Second Shift.

• Assist in snow removal under the direction of the Director or designee.

• Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities not inconsistent with the role, as the Director of Facilities, Farm, and Grounds may assign.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• This position is a twelve-month position at 40 hours per week. Hours for this position are Monday-Friday from 2pm-10pm.

• The nature of this position may require time beyond the regular workday, and it is expected that the individual filling this position will be available as necessary.

• This position is part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees, Council 93, Local 245 and the School District.
