Job Title: Junior Network Engineer (0217) Reports To: Director of Technology Duty Days: 235 Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Pay Grade: T05 Date Revised: 05/2021

Primary Purpose: Implement, maintain, and support our growing network infrastructure. You will be part of a team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet educational objectives and SLAs. Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

• Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)

• Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations

• Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability

• Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning

• Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues

• Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure

• Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the district's security team

• Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution

Requirements: - Proven hands-on network engineering experience CCNP preferred - Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS) - Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model - Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools

Major Responsibilities and Duties: - Install, support, maintain and monitor new switch gear, server hardware and software while ensuring the most cost-effective and efficient use of district resources - Design, setup and configure complex switching environments - Supervise the administration of systems and servers related to the network to ensure availability of services to authorized users - Maintain a thorough understanding of Local Area Networking Assist in the development of guidelines and procedures for administration and security best practices - Respond to Help Desk support tickets and resolve those in a timely manner Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Director of Technology - Effectively administer fiscal resources and maintain appropriate and accurate records of all financial activities - Utilize the instruction staff and support services (intra-district and inter-district) to maintain and improve the instructional program - Exhibit and encourage high professional and ethical standards Maintain confidentiality - Punctual and dependable attendance Must be able to work in a collaborative environment to achieve team and district goals - Remain current on emerging technologies via professional groups, trade magazines, internal and external training, independent research and study, and other avenues available - Accepts other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Technology

Working Conditions: - Work with frequent interruptions - Maintain emotional control under stress - Frequent district wide travel - Prolonged use of the computer, bending, sitting, standing, stooping, and lifting - Able to effectively present information to individuals and groups - Ability to lift 50 lbs
