About this role
HOURS: 6.75 DAYS PER YEAR: 177 REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Statement of Approval from the State Superintendent of Education valid for sign language interpreting
• Maintained a valid certification by the Illinois Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (IL_BEI) Basic Certificate or higher issued by the Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing Commission or
• Maintained a valid certificate from RID or
• Attained a rating of 3.5 or above on the Educational Interpreters Performance Assessment (EIPA) or
• Proof of a Current one-time interim approval granted under 23 Il School Code, 25.510, (4)
• Skilled in sign language interpreting
• Physical and TB test
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Use total communication skills to communicate with students who are deaf, hard of hearing, or voice impaired.
• Take oral presentations and interpret the information to the level of understanding for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• Interpret or voice for student(s)
• Communicate orally with staff regarding students who are deaf, hard of hearing, or voice impaired.
• Other duties as assigned.
