Paraprofessional Adaptive Sports: Special Education Secondary: Student sports calendar/start & end times to be determined The responsibilities of a special education paraprofessional is to foster and nurture a positive learning environment for all students. A special education paraprofessional has the ability to work with a variety of disabilities that affect student communication needs, behavioral performance, self-care skills, and academic support. Under the supervision of a special education teacher, the paraprofessional is responsible to carry out appropriate student interventions, accommodations, and modifications. Support students with specialized needs through our Adaptive Sports Program, specifically softball and floor hockey. This position plays a pivotal role in creating an inclusive, safe, and empowering environment, ensuring students of all abilities can actively engage in physical education, team athletics, and social-emotional growth. Experience in working with special education students in the schools preferred. Adaptive Sports Responsibilities:

• Direct Athletic Support: Assist student-athletes during practices and games with equipment setup, mobility assistance, instruction repetition, and adaptive technique modifications.

• Safety & Accessibility: Ensure playing fields, rinks, and equipment meet individual physical and safety accommodations outlined in students' IEPs plan.

• Team & Skill Building: Partner with the head coaches to break down sports drills (batting, fielding, stick handling, puck/ball control) into accessible, achievable steps.

• Game Day Facilitation: Assist with student transitions, travel, and sideline support during home and away athletic events.

• Peer Integration: Encourage positive social interactions, sportsmanship, and confidence-building among team members.
