Jacksonville ISD has approximately 4500 students and 900 employees, serving grades pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade on eight campuses. The District is located in Cherokee County, approximately 25 miles south of Tyler. Jacksonville Independent School District seeks an innovative, student driven leader for the position of Superintendent of Schools, beginning January 1, 2027. Jacksonville ISD benefits from strong community support, focusing on our students’ best interests. Job Requirements: •Master’s Degree in educational administration from an accredited college or university •Valid Texas Superintendent Certificate •Five years of leadership in school administration in a Texas school district Board of Trustee Expectations for the New Superintendent: •Experience in school leadership, preferably in a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or central office role •Emphasizes a team mindset, promoting the idea that “this is our District.” •Known for being visible, present and a people person, fostering open communication. •Has diverse experience in school administration possessing a broad skill set without specializing in one area •Seeks others’ ideas and is willing to make informed decisions and recommendations •A forward-thinking leader with a dedication to advance overall District performance and student preparation for their futures.
