RSU 9 is continually recruiting substitutes for Food Service. JOB GOAL(S): To serve students attractive and nutritious meals in an efficient, clean, and friendly atmosphere. STATEMENT: Under the direct supervision of the kitchen manager and food service director, cooks, prepares, cuts, chips, and sliced ingredients. Accurately operates Point of Sale system (cash register) during meal periods. Assists in maintaining an orderly and safe atmosphere in the cafeteria, kitchen, and sorage areas. QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent;
• Maine State Criminal History Record Check;
• Serv-Safe (or equivalent) food safety certification;
• Must be at least 18 years of age;
• Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Effective organizational and problem solving skills
• Ability to count and make change
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift 50 pounds up to waist level
• Ability to maintain composure and perform responsibilities under pressure
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others in the course of work
• Ability to maintain confidentiality about students in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and district guidelines
• Ability to read and understand written directions and/or recipes
• Ability to measure, perform basic math, and use a calculator
• Must be able to use a computer with basic proficiency
REPORTS TO: Food Service Director PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepares food in accordance with district procedures. Weighs, measures, and portions ingredients according to recipes and/or other instructions provided.
• Serves students and staff in a professional manner. Service may include locations outside of the cafeteria as directed by the Food Service Director and/or building principal.
• Participates in maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen and dining area in accordance with state and local regulations and district procedures. This includes all areas of operation including garbage and recycling areas.
• Performs all duties related to preparation and service of meals, snacks, and special events.
• Processes payments using a computer, processes checks and cash for meal and a-la-cart payments and account pre-payments.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director, the Superintendent, and/or the Director of Curriculum/Assistant Superintendent.
Rate of Pay: $18.50 per hour Employment cannot be finalized until the applicant has completed requirements for a complete background check and fingerprinting as required by Maine State Statute. • Anyone who works for a school district that is over 18 years old
• Anyone who is contracted through a school district
What do I need to be Fingerprinted?
• Create a MEIS account: Go to https://www.maine.gov/doe/cert/fingerprinting for instructions on how to create a MEIS account
• Register at https://me.ibtfingerprint.com/ to make your fingerprints appointment. ($55 fee)
• Submit a new application for CHRC. ($15 fee)
How often do I need to be Fingerprinted?
• Every 5 years, unless you have been continuously employed for the last 5 years by a Maine school district.
• **Coaches and Substitute Teachers must be fingerprinted every 5 years, regardless of continuous employment.
What is the status of my Fingerprints?
• Go to https://www.maine.gov/doe/cert/status. You will need to provide your last name and last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
