Work Location: ISD FLSA Status: Exempt
Work Schedule: 10 months
Position Summary
The Multilingual Learner Lead Teacher acts as an instructional leader to build the capacity of Multilingual Learner (ML) educators through instructional coaching, professional learning, collaboration, co-teaching and implementation support. The overall goal of this position is to strengthen high-quality language instruction, promote academic success for multilingual learners, and ensure effective implementation of district ML programs.
Essential Duties
• Provides supplemental/follow up professional development for ESL teachers relevant to language acquisition, SIOP, and best practices through observations, modeling, co-teaching and coaching; provides supplemental support through a differentiated plan for novice and experienced teachers • Supports ESL teachers in English and target language formative assessments. Supports ESL teachers and building administrators in planning and implementing the site-based ESL plan and SIP. • Reviews student data with ESL teachers to inform and support instructional planning and ongoing program evaluation and improvement. • Conducts a yearly district needs assessment under the guidance of the ML/DL/WL Director. • Works with ML/DL/WL Director to create and sustain a long-term professional growth plan that supports the implementation of services for English language learners PreK-12. • Provides ESL teachers with current research-based best practices in the areas of second language acquisition programming. • Facilitates curriculum development sessions to support ES lesson design, vertical alignment, and content integration with language arts and literacy. • Attends and provides leadership for identified district meetings in collaboration with ML/DL/WL Director. • Collaborates with ML/DL/WL Director and other district and school leaders to plan and implement targeted interventions for ELs. • Attends district-level ISD meetings as needed. • Stays abreast of current research and best practices. Attends professional seminars, conventions, and other training events to receive instruction in research-based second language acquisition and strategies and how to work effectively with adult learners. • Performs other appropriate duties as assigned by a supervisor. **Should the need arise where a position in a classroom is needed based on enrollment this position may fill that teaching need instead of the lead teacher responsibilities**
Education/Experience Requirements
• Holds a clear, continuing Professional Educator's License in the area of ESL K-12 • Proficiency in oral and written Spanish preferred • 3 or more years of successful teaching experience required • Instructional coaching experience preferred • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
