QualificationsBasic Requirements: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience or substitution of education for experience or combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified. You MUST meet the following requirements: To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Providing supervisory control of team priorities, work assignments, scheduling, performance, and discipline. Leading accounting functions that may include conducting analyses, classification, adjustments, reconciliation, and other related activities. Using automated accounting systems to review transactions, balances, and perform related account management functions. Major DutiesYou will serve as a Supervisory Accounting Technician and be responsible for supervising Coast Guard-wide accounting functions, focusing on the payment of commercial and government vendors, as well as processing invoices for the USCG, TSA, and other DHS organizations. The main purpose is to act as a first-line supervisor responsible for bill payments and maintaining accounting records. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Planning and directing work through Lead Technicians, setting short-term priorities, balancing work between units, and assuring quality and quantity of work. Applying experienced knowledge of accounting principles, appropriation law, procurement regulations and other regulatory guidance. Using Financial Management Systems to reconcile and interpret complex data sets and make complex adjustments as determined necessary. Responding to a wide variety of routine, unusual and complex questions generated from a large and diverse customer base.RequirementsAll qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
