Job SummaryAbout the Position: Serve as the Garrison Industrial Hygienist and Industrial Hygiene Program Manager at the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF), Directorate of Branch Clinics, Army Health Clinic, Preventive Medicine while supporting the service component and all tenant units within the Area of Responsibility (AOR) located at Camp Carroll, Republic of South Korea. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

QualificationsWho May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Basic Requirement for Industrial Hygienist: Degree: A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science. OR Related Degree: A bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene. OR Certification from the Board for Global Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Credentialing (formerly American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH)). In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: conducting comprehensive industrial hygiene evaluations; implementing hazard control and mitigation strategies; developing and reviewing programs related to safety and health; leading Industrial Hygiene teams, projects, managing, and analyzing Industrial Hygiene data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Major DutiesServe as the principal technical authority and program manager for integrated Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, and Occupational Safety and Health programs across the assigned Area of Responsibility (AOR).Trains subordinates in Industrial Hygiene methodologies.Conduct comprehensive surveillance of garrison industrial shops and facilities.Identify hazardous workplace conditions.Recommend decisive corrective actions to commanders, safety managers, and supervisors.Collaborate with the Directorate of Public Works to implement engineering controls.Review technical plans for new construction and process modifications.Perform joint facility inspections with the Occupational Health department.
