The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a MAJCOM Senior Government Special Security Officer (GSSO) responsible for the implementation, establishment, administration, oversight, and security management of established Department of Defense and Air Force security programs.

QualificationsExperience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-03, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-13 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in applying a mastery of security policies, IT principles, and safety regulations to acquisition and logistics supportability disciplines to solve complex security issues. Proficiency in directing organizational staff and serving as a Government Special Security Officer (GSSO) for MAJCOM Special Access Programs (SAP), leading security inspections, and providing expert oversight to senior leadership. Expertise also includes applying comprehensive knowledge of Intelligence Community (IC) and IJSTO directives to manage Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and specialized security networks, while utilizing strong communication skills to prepare and present high-level documentation and briefings. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Mastery knowledge of security policies, procedures, and practices related to the acquisition and logistics supportability disciplines, their interrelationships, resources and applicability to the mission of AFMC. Extensive knowledge of a wide range of IT principles, concepts, and methods. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. Demonstrated skill in both oral and written communications for the purpose of effectively preparing and/or presenting a diverse array of documentation and other materials. Comprehensive knowledge of the Intelligence Community (IC) and Integrated Joint Special Technical Operations (IJSTO) directives applicable to the establishment and management of Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities. Thorough knowledge of special program and specialized management of the government security network to respond to and solve varied and complex security issues with sensitive situations. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Major DutiesServes as Government Special Security Officer (GSSO) for Special Access Program (SAP) activities throughout the MAJCOM. Prepares and presents, and/or facilitates high level briefings to senior leaders and to all AFMC field units. Serve as the lead for applicable HQ AFMC SAP security inspections and as an augmentee to HQ AFMC SAPMO. Provides oversight, information, expertise, advice, and status briefings to the Deputy Division Chief, Division Chief, and other individuals and organizations as needed or directed.
