Job SummaryThe purpose of this position is to provide high-quality food service to patients, employees, and guests by ensuring excellence in food preparation, meal service, and sanitation. The incumbent serves as a Cook in the Dietary Department at Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility within the Administrative Services Division in Chinle, Arizona. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
QualificationsTo qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. WAGE GRADE STATEMENT Candidates for this position will be evaluated under the Federal Wage System (FWS) Job Grading Standards. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Continual standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling is required. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
Major DutiesPrepares foods according to diet orders, menus and standardized recipes. Prepares food for cooking such as washing, peeling, chopping and grinding for cooking. Roasts, bakes, fries, boils and stews meats, fish and poultry. Monitors the preparation and evaluates the condition of the food being prepared at frequent intervals to ensure optimum flavor, quality and appearance. Observes high personal hygiene standards and all required safe food handling practices. Performs assigned cleaning duties as scheduled. Maintains food storage areas for cleanliness and proper storage and food labeling. Background Investigation Requirement: This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment. A background investigation is a standard process used by the Federal Government to verify an individual's identity, employment history, education, and other relevant information to determine suitability for Federal service. Upon receipt of instructions, applicants must complete all required background investigation forms within five (5) calendar days of issuance. Timely completion is critical to avoid delays in processing or a determination of unsuitability.
