Job SummaryFogarty International Center (FIC) is seeking a Director for the Division of International Relations (DIR). As Director, you will lead the development and implementation of international scientific and public health initiatives that benefit the global health research community.
QualificationsIn order to qualify for the International Health Program Officer GS-601, you must have successfully completed a Bachelor's degree or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. (This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained). In order to qualify for an International Health Program Officer, 0601, at the GS-15 level, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal Government. performing the following types of tasks: 1.) organizing and coordinating international scientific research activities for an organization; 2.) Identifying and assessing biomedical and scientific factors that significantly impact global public health and research activities; 3.) providing strategic leadership and coordination of international scientific collaborations, global health research partnerships, and international engagement activities that advance organizational priorities; 4.) advising senior management on the political, economic, and cultural dynamics of a region/country and their effect on scientific research programs and activities; 5.) recommending and implementing long-term strategic priorities for international scientific research programs. Major DutiesResponsible for the coordination of all bilateral and multilateral programs to strengthen external representation and ensure cohesiveness of FIC and NIH activities.Coordinate the programming of international activity with other NIH interests.Oversee the planning of visits for eminent foreign government representatives to meet with the Director, NIH, IC Directors, and senior scientific staff.Represent the FIC and NIH at meetings with foreign government representatives.Supervise the staff of program officers, program specialists, and supports employees in the daily administration of the Division's activities.Serve as principal foreign policy advisor to the Director, FIC, on matters concerned with NIH international relations.
