About this role

Job SummaryThis position serves as the Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist within the Division of Facilities Management of the Office of Environmental Health and Engineering (OEH&E). This position is located at the Albuquerque Area Office in Albuquerque, NM. The purpose of this position is to maintain, repair, calibrate, and manage biomedical equipment that supports safe, reliable, and effective patient care. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

QualificationsTo qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-11: Applicant(s) must meet one of the following minimum qualification requirements: Experience: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and maintaining biomedical or other complex electronic equipment; Performing preventive maintenance and safety inspections to ensure equipment operates in accordance with manufacturer specifications and applicable standards; Maintaining equipment inventories, maintenance records, and preventive maintenance schedules using a computerized maintenance management system; Evaluating equipment performance, diagnosing malfunctions, and recommending repairs, replacements, or modifications to support patient care; Providing technical guidance to equipment users and coordinating equipment maintenance, repairs, installations, and acquisitions with clinical staff, vendors, and other support personnel. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years (54 semester hours) of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work, or LL.M., if related. OR Combination of Education and Experience: Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. Major DutiesInstalls, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates, and tests biomedical equipment. Performs preventive maintenance to ensure medical equipment is safe, reliable, compliant, and available for patient care. Manages the biomedical equipment program, including equipment inventories and maintenance records. Performs equipment evaluations and ensures compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Provides user training and coordinates biomedical equipment services with clinical staff and vendors.RequirementsSelectee may be subject to a probationary period U.S. Citizenship is required Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959 This vacancy is advertised under Delegated Examining Authority. Background Investigation Requirement: Successful completion of a federal background investigation is required as a condition of employment.
