Paediatric Urology at Maastricht UMC+ is a tertiary referral centre serving an area that extends well beyond the province of Limburg. For more than 20 years, the department has played a pioneering role in the development of laparoscopic and robot-assisted techniques, as well as conventional surgical procedures, including innovative hypospadias repair techniques. The future colleague will be expected to become fully involved in the outpatient, inpatient and surgical activities of the department, building on this tradition and, in time, contributing to further expertise or expanding the department's areas of specialisation. Ample opportunity will also be provided for professional development in scientific research, undergraduate teaching, postgraduate medical training and management. The role of paediatric urologist also includes involvement in the urological aspects of transitional care for patients moving from paediatric to adult healthcare. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in the department's general on-call rota, which includes the treatment of adult patients. The proportion of the position devoted to adult patient care is estimated at 0.2 FTE. What will your working environment look like? The Department of Urology at Maastricht UMC+ is part of the Comprehensive Cancer Centre. It occupies a unique position in the Netherlands, as it combines its academic responsibilities with the provision of general urological care for the surrounding region.
