About this role

The Virology Assay Scientist will support virus production, characterization, and testing activities in a fast-paced laboratory environment. This role involves handling HIV-positive materials and patient-derived samples and performing high-throughput, cell-based virology assays using automated instrumentation. The successful candidate will contribute to both routine testing and the development, optimization, and validation of novel virology and biomarker assays.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Receipt, logging, and processing of patient blood samples, including isolation of PBMCsVirus production and characterization, including large-scale laboratory preparationsPerformance of ELISA- and flow cytometry–based viral analysesPlasmid handling and transfection-related activitiesHigh-throughput testing of compounds using cell-based HIV assaysAssisting with the development, validation, and execution of novel biomarker and virology assaysOperation and maintenance of automated laboratory equipment, as neededAccurate documentation of experimental data in accordance with GMP and laboratory best practicesThis is a highly hands-on laboratory role requiring attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously.

Basic Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, bioengineering, or a related scientific disciplineMinimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech laboratory environmentDemonstrated experience with mammalian cell culture and immunoassaysWillingness and ability to work with HIV laboratory strains and patient-derived samplesAbility to learn and operate automated and high-throughput laboratory instrumentationMust be eligible to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorshipPreferred Qualifications

Experience with blood processing and PBMC isolationExperience working with primary cell culturesHands-on experience with transfection techniques and flow cytometryPrior operation of automated liquid handling systems or other high-throughput platforms The position is full-time, first shift, Monday-Friday with overtime as needed.
