About this role
The Lab Operations Technician will support large‑scale, pilot‑scale development manufacturing operations through hands-on laboratory activities. This role is responsible for room and equipment setup, material and component preparation, equipment assembly and disassembly, cleaning, and the processing of raw materials into finished drug product using large‑scale processing equipment.
This position requires strict adherence to procedures, strong attention to detail in documentation, and proficiency with electronic systems. The Lab Operations Technician will collaborate closely with formulators, engineers, Safety, and Facilities teams to support pilot‑scale and development pipeline activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
Training will be provided for all core operations; however, prior experience working with large‑scale or pilot‑scale pharmaceutical equipment is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, operate, clean, and maintain large‑scale and pilot‑scale equipment and facilities used in development manufacturing processesAssemble and disassemble processing equipment in accordance with approved proceduresSupport scale‑up activities by preparing materials, components, and equipment for pilot‑scale manufacturing runsMaintain, inventory, transport, and organize processing equipment, materials, supplies, and productExecute all required documentation and clerical activities to support lab and pilot area operationsOperate and maintain cleaning and sterilization equipment, including parts washers, dry heat ovens, and autoclavesReceive, inspect, store, and manage sterile supplies and equipment, ensuring proper inventory levels and organizationSupport sterile formulation and large‑volume processing activities according to batch records and established protocolsFollow all safety, quality, and compliance requirements while working in controlled and cleanroom environments Bachelor’s degree in a science or related fieldMinimum of 1 year of industry laboratory experience (pilot‑scale, manufacturing, or GMP environment preferred)Strong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency with computer systems and applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to work both independently and as part of a cross‑functional teamAbility to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, twisting, climbing ladders, and wearing cleanroom gowning and respirators as required The position is full-time, first shift, Monday-Friday with overtime as needed.
