About this role
As a Bio Process Technician at BBEPP, you choose a job that is truly different. You will work with a team of engineers and technicians on a wide variety of innovative projects. No routine work, but an inspiring environment where you gain new insights, deepen your expertise, and further develop your talents. Together with your colleagues, you scale up and optimize bio-based processes (from lab to industrial scale) that contribute to a sustainable bio-economy and to solutions for today’s and tomorrow’s climate challenges. In the role of a Bio Process Technician, you are responsible for preparing processes and setting up (pre-) industrial pilot installations. In addition to setting up these test installations, you will also carry out the different process steps and operate the corresponding equipment. In consultation with the process engineers, you closely monitor the process parameters of the scale-up processes assigned to you (fermentation, biocatalysis, purification). You regularly take samples, analyse them in the lab, and critically evaluate the results, actively contributing ideas for potential improvements. Moreover, you act as a true ambassador for safety, structure, and hygiene in the process environment. We're looking for a motivated weekend employee (2 x 12-hour nights per week + 2 x 8-hour days per month). You're a hands-on technician with a no-nonsense mentality who enjoys actively participating in innovative bio-based processes. You work independently, methodically, and accurately, and you have knowledge of biotechnological processes such as fermentation or biocatalysis, or experience in process industry, chemistry, or food. Experience with bio-based products and processes is a plus. You are a real team player and communicate fluently in both Dutch and English. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, HBO5 chemistry/biochemistry, or a laboratory technician diploma. In this case, previous work experience is not required. If you already have experience in the process industry, chemistry, or food sector, an A2 diploma (secondary education) in a scientific or technical field is also sufficient. Nobody is perfect, at Bio Base Europe Pilot Plant, there is plenty of room to learn by doing! Can’t check every box above, but are you flexible, eager to learn, and open to tailored training? Do you enjoy taking on challenges, with a healthy dose of pioneer spirit running through your veins? Then don’t hesitate to get in touch!
