About this role

A major focus of our research is the development of PROTACs as novel therapeutic approaches against cancer. Our research combines molecular genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, and cancer models. The research group is located at the Institute of Biochemistry, which is part of the Medical Faculty of the University of Kiel. The institute provides excellent facilities and state-of-the-art equipment, allowing you to perform cutting-edge experiments and acquire highly valuable skills for a future career in academia or industry. The department is located at the heart of the Kiel University campus, which provides a stimulating collaborative research environment with multiple research groups working on tumor biology and cellular proteolysis. We collaborate with numerous additional life science institutes in Kiel including the Kiel Oncology Network (KON), the Institute of Pharmacy and Kiel Life Science (KLS). - You are highly motivated and are eager to pursue a Ph.D. in the natural sciences with a medical focus. - You have recently completed, or are about to complete, your Master's degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, bioinformatics or a related field. - You have excellent written and spoken English skills. Knowledge of German is desirable but not required. - You enjoy working with young researchers in an international and collaborative team. The positions will start between December 2026 and March 2027 and the salary is based on TV-L E 13 (65%). In case of equivalent qualifications, disabled applicants will be preferentially considered.
